COMPANY HISTORY

Our sister dance company Bricolage Dance Movement (Italy) was founded in 2007 by choreographers Anna Buonomo and Michela Mucci. In October 2010, Anna moved to London and her work Tied Up was selected by UK Young Artists (www.ukyoungartists.co.uk) for UKYA's first National Showcase in Derby. Anna’s works have since been shown at The Place Robin Howard Theatre, Nottingham Playhouse and Stratford Circus in the UK.

In 2012 Story of a Night Pianist, a site-specific work with movement and live music by composer Maestro Lorenzo Turchi-Floris, was created for the unique space of Trinity Buoy Wharf in Docklands. The piece has since toured in London and Manchester (UK); Hamburg (Germany) and Aarau (Switzerland), and become the subject of a separate dance film project, Faraday’s Cage.

Anna returned with new solo I Am You And You Are Me in 2015. In 2016, Anna received funding from the Dance Enterprise Ideas Fund at East London Dance to pilot a new community dance project for older dancers, Water Under The Bridge, co-led by long-time collaborators Lise Smith and Irene Wernli. After five years of working together with Anna as sole director, in 2017 Anna, Lise and Irene formally registered Bricolage Dance UK as its legal and artistic co-directors.

Bricolage is currently delivering intergenerational project Water Under The Bridge; solo performance Baby Plus Two. toured in 2018 and will be performed again in 2019.  Story of a Night Pianist continues to be performed, most recently as part of Totally Thames Festival 2018.
